General Qualifications for Plumbing/HVAC Technician

• Crime-free background (no felonies in 10 years and no misdemeanors in 5 years)
• Drug-free (drug testing required)
• Minimum 10 years experience
• Over 21 years of age
• Trade license
• Valid Arizona driver's license & excellent driving record
• Must be willing to work without time restrictions
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Clean-cut and respectable in appearance
• Physically capable to perform heavy labor

Plumbing Technician Job Description:

The plumber installs, repairs and/or modifies pipe systems that carry water, wastewater, steam, air, natural gas, etc. They also work with plumbing systems, including drains, fixtures, and assemblies. A general knowledge of both plumbing and pipe-fitting is essential. Plumbing technicians know how to read blueprints and how to connect fittings with solder and paste (copper pipe) and pipe glue (PVC, ABS, etc.) as well as assembly of sewer, drain, and water lines and all their components. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment. They work with maintenance technicians to assess plumbing situations and ensure customer satisfaction.

HVAC Technician Job Description:

Technicians have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on heating, air conditioning, and ventilation units. They are also familiar with steam distribution equipment. They are able to operate a variety of equipment. Can perform routine testing and diagnostics checks to look for needed repairs or deficiencies in the system. Reads blueprints and schematics and works with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.

Apprentice/Helper Job Description:

Works alongside plumbing and HVAC technicians to provide technical support and manpower. On plumbing or air conditioning projects.  They are often required to carry out excavation and clean-up/patch-up before and after the job. Observes the work of the technician so as to be able to apply the knowledge and skills necessary to complete larger, more complex jobs. They know how to mix, pour, and set concrete. They know how to patch drywall. They also are able to operate various types of tools, equipment, and machinery. Basic driving and navigation skills are necessary as well.
