Grease Problems

When a backup in the grease trap occurs, one of four things is happening:

1. Grease trap full: This occurs when all three pipes (the incoming line, crossover pipe, and outgoing line) have become clogged. The cover to the primary can be opened to see how deep the grease cap extends.
2. Clog in crossover: Grease may find its way into the crossover pipe between the primary and secondary tanks. If this happens, the primary will begin to overflow along with the floor drains.
3. Clog in incoming line: A good way to tell if the incoming line is clogged is to the check the floor drains (or the lowest plumbing outlet, if not the floor drains). They will overflow.
4. Clog in outgoing line: This will cause both the primary, secondary, and floor drains to overflow.
