Flushometers
Most commercial buildings make use of the flushometer high-pressure style toilet. These are toilets that do not require a holding tank to proved the water necessary to flush, rather they bring water into the bowl directly from a high-pressure water source.
These toilets are very distinctive. They have the chrome flush valve with a handle that is pulled to cause the water to enter the bowl and flush it out. Flushometers are also used for urinals, where a holding tank is not feasible. These toilets now commonly feature an infrared sensor that initiates the flushing process on its own.
Once the toilet has been flushed, a pneumatic mechanism closes the valve and shuts off the water supply. Although flushometer toilets are more efficient at clearing the bowl, they use just about the same amount of water as a traditional toilet.
