Filters
A common way to prevent biological contaminants from entering the home is to install air filters in the air conditioning ducts. Depending on the make and model, these filters can trap a large percentage of articulate matter floating around in the air ducts.
Filters are typically made up of foam, cotton, fiberglass, or synthetic fibers and are installed between the air return duct and the furnace to ensure that all of the air is filtered. Filters vary in terms of density and surface area (pleated filters work best because of the increased surface area). Some manufacturers produce filters with a layer of carbon that makes airborne materials stick to it like a magnet.
Air filters need to be replaced regularly to ensure maximum efficiency. These can be purchased from Rainforest Plumbing & Air. Need help installing filters in your home air conditioning system? Give us a call today at
